5 Critical Requirements for Your Blog

Blog Requirements? Here’s 5 Things You Need!

Last week I was on a webinar with two of my mentors – Tanya Aliza and Ray Higdon, both experts in the blogging. Today I am sharing insight from Ray and Tanya on how to make your blog more powerful.

Well, why do you need these 5 critical requirements?

  • How about an attractive appearance for your blog?
  • How about letting people know who YOU are, and why they would want to learn more?

Critical Requirement #1: Your face in the banner

Visitors to your blog want to know who you are, not someone hiding behind a logo or something.

Critical Requirement #2: A Good Giveaway

You need something to attract your visitor – a strong reason for them to enter their contact information.

You want to establish a relationship with your readers and there is where it starts. They need a good reason to give you their email address so you want to giveaway to be a compelling offer.

Do not say something like “enter your email to receive regular updates” or such! Give them something they want in exchange!

Critical Requirement # 3: “PS” Line in Each Blog Post

A “PS” line is a great place to put a call to action. What kind of action?

  • direct them to a monetize offer
  • encourage them to “Like” and “Share” your post
  • encourage them to “Comment”
  • encourage them to enter their info for your “Great Giveaway”

Critical Requirement #4: Pictures in Your Blog Post

If your readers are like me, they will find straight text BORING.

Don’t bore your readers, insert appropriate graphics that support your message.

One warning, don’t use copywritten materials here – use photos you are allowed to share, you can go to www.freedigitalphotos.net/ and you just need to give them credit on your website to use their photos (such as the one’s in this post)

Critical Requirement #5: Be congruent

What do I mean by being congruent. Assuming you have correctly identified your target audience, you want to post articles that they will want to read. You want to be consistent on a range of subjects of interest to your audience, not all over the map with content. If your audience is saying to themselves “why did he post that and why would I want to read it”, you are probably not being congruent and in danger of losing the attention of your audience.

Am I saying never post something personal occasionally? NO! Be yourself but be congruent.

Summary:

Blogging is a great method to build your list of potential business partners, and establish yourself as a credible authority.

I encourage you to put your best foot forward and include these 5 critical requirements in your blog.
