Who Wins the Dumbest Marketing Technique Award?

What is the dumbest marketing technique?

Are you fed up with annoying and unsolicited telephone calls, generally made when you are right in the middle of something?

Who do you feel should win the award for the dumbest marketing technique ever?

How about the automated, computer generated, calls? These intrusions tell you about their great business model and how you can do what they do and annoy others as well. What a delightful business model to embrace!

marketing techniques

How about Dennis Bayne’s system of calling a list of home business owners and hanging up, so they will return a call as a “missed call”. Then you can go into your sales pitch of how would you like to have home business owners calling you?

What is your definition of misrepresentation?
I understand these techniques are taught as Cold Calling 2.0

How about talking with people who want to talk to you? People who need what you can provide?
How about talking to them like a business coach, rather than as a telemarketer?

I love speaking with people who have asked for information, and need what I can provide.
Do all of them grasp the concept of a home business? NO. Many are looking for a JOB and can’t grasp the concept of home business. While you can guide them through the difference, I would only spent your time with those that “get it”. Spending more time with people who only want to be an employee is a waste of time for both of you.

And when you call these folks, talk to them like a friend, not a telemarketer. They are probably tired of people calling up to sell them something. Be different, and find out how you can help them. If they see you as a resource to help them get what they want, then you have made a friend, and people do business with people that they like and trust.
