Are You looking for a home business?

In this tough economy, many people are looking at a home business, either to be an entrepreneur, or just to make some money as an alternative to a JOB. I am answering questions that have been asked of me recently. Where to start? home business

Here are 3 questions that you need to ask yourself:

  • Who am I
  • What am I looking for?
  • What am I willing to do?

What type of home business?

Once you have answered these questions, there are 3 choices for you to make:

  • An in-home service (day care, accountant, chiropractor, etc.)
  • Service from home (lawn care, skilled trade, computer service etc.)
  • Marketing from home.

Let’s focus on the last one for now

Marketing from Home:

Now you have another 3 main choices on how you approach your target market:

  • Off-line (traditional customer visits or one-on-one meetings)
  • On-line (using the internet as your main focus, primarily from home)
  • On-line + Off-line (this combination is growing in popularity)

Off-line describes what we used to do before the internet, for those who remember. On-line only is generally restricted to affiliate marketing programs which require less interaction with prospective clients, but still require some telephone follow-up, and perhaps attending some industry training across the country. Combining Off-Line and On-Line makes sense to me personally, as you are using the power of the internet but still interacting with people across all mediums – web, email, phone, and in person. Using Social Media to connect is becoming much more commonplace. Value:

  • Part of your selection parameters will be based on how you choose to provide value to the marketplace. Often the type of value you provide the marketplace will dictate how you interact with your target audience.
  • You will find the amount of money you earn will dependent on how much value you provide the marketplace.

It’s not about you: Once you decide which plan makes sense for you personally, it becomes about your market, and not about you. Your target market cares about what’s in it for them, and really don’t care about you until you show how you care for them.

Timing: There has never been a better time for you to start your home business. I hope these tips have helped you focus in on Your Business!
