Where is your “ounce of prevention”?

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Isn’t that what your mother told you? An ounce of prevention?

And I just discovered that quote came from Benjamin Franklin, in regard to fire prevention.

An ounce of prevention of a fire may relate to an ounce of prevention of a heart attack?

Seems like we bought in to the message to stop eating butter and bacon that we bad for us, and we started eating margarine and vegetable oils to be healthier.

And back in my day, margarine was a solid bland oil that you mixed coloring into so it looked less bad.

That’s the ounce of prevention right, to avoid dealing with the pound of cure in heart disease.

Well, have we been getting healthier? More trim and fit? I don’t think so!

I believe my state (North Carolina) has taken the leadership position in obesity.

How has this listening to the experts (FDA, CDC, food and drug companies) worked out for us.

Recently, many of us have started to question this expert advice which doesn’t stand the test of time.

Could it be that companies have been giving us advice and direction that both has degraded our health and improved their bottom line?

Could it be time to say STOP?

Your ounce of preventionAs a senior, I have decided to follow the facts, not the industry propaganda.

What the heck, we are running out of time to use our brains and take this act of prevention as I sure don’t want to pay for the pound of cure.

Let’s seize back our quality of life as we enter “retirement”, whatever retirement is to you, and if you are considering your retirement or have already crossed that threshold.

In our home, we have embraced eating more of what God has created and less of what man has chemically modified.

And I like my doctor but dislike his methods of prescribing medication to address symptoms rather than looking for the root cause.

Is Big Pharma driving what treatment we get, and don’t get me going on government death panels.

As a senior, I believe we have to rally together to insist on the truth, to apply the ounce of prevention now, rather than get along and pay the pound of cure to the medical industry later.

If you agree, and are ready to act, let’s all eat healthy and avoid the genetically modified and chemically modified so-called foods.

I would appreciate your comments, especially if you are ready to take charge of your life. Bad health doesn’t lead to a good retirement lifestyle.
