Setting Smart Goals – Incorporate Your Vision

SMART goals for you

Setting Smart Goals – Incorporate Your Vision.

I just got off a webinar with Ray Higdon who emphasized the importance of your vision in achieving your goals.

Before you set your goals, you must be very clear on your vision – where you see yourself a year from now, and what do you see yourself doing a year from now?
You need to “feel” it, you need to get your emotion involved in first establishing your vision and then setting your goals.
If your emotion isn’t involved, you will lack commitment to stick with it long enough to achieve your goals.

your vision

What are you committed to? That’s a great start for your Vision.

You must see yourself at where you want to be. You must feel it.

If you want a luxury car, you must be specific. You must see yourself driving the luxury car.
Now, as Ray advises, you must not only see yourself driving, but ask yourself what you will be wearing on your first trip, where will you be going, who will you see and how will you feel about their reaction to your new car? Who will be sitting in the seat beside you and how will you feel about that.

As you can see, you need to be crystal clear on not only what you want but the emotional benefits, like the benefit of the benefit, of you achieving your goals.

Most people set goals every year, mostly in January, and the next January come back and set pretty much the same goals as the previous year. What do you think is the reason for that?
Could it be the goal was a little too vague and you didn’t have a clear idea of what it was, and how you were to achieve it? This lack of clarity makes your goal a little fuzzy.

It’s time to clean the glass and sharpen your vision by becoming emotionally involved in seeing yourself at the successful completion, not with a vague idea but a crystal clear view of how you will feel when you arrive.

I hope this information has opened your perception to the subject of vision and goals, and that you will approach ‘fleshing out” your vision with clarity and a some excitement.

If you see value here, please “like” and “share”, and feel free to comment with your thoughts.
Wishing you a clear vision and a successful 2014.
God bless,

Ron
