Want More Income? Provide More Value!

If you want more income, provide more value.

From back in the 80’s, I remember the early computers: the Commodore C64, the IBM-PC, maybe even the 8086 models from Radio Shack. I still remember the IBM with  no hard drive but dual 640K floppy drives, one for the program disc and one for the data disc. You couldn’t boot up your cell phone with this amount of memory…. In the early 80’s, I even remember a version of Macintosh with a thermal printer built into the monitor, printing out info for our use. We have come a long ways!

As a pioneer, IBM needed a better operating system and a young Bill Gates found the technology, finessed it, and marketed it to IBM and a growing industry. Through many generations of MS-DOS, Microsoft developed by the end of the century to a user-friendly (not always) graphic user interface (GUI) that we all know as “Windows”. Today we have Windows users and Apple users, but Windows is a major part of our lives today. Do you recognize young Bill in the picture below?

Bill Gates

Why is this important? Bill Gates saw the need, and found the solution, which provided high value to both IBM and the early adopters of this “new fangled” technology. With high value can come high dollar rewards.

Today his net worth is over $70B and his annual salary is $1M.

What value do you provide?

Not all of us will be discovering new technologies to fuel a new industry, but we can apply our God-given intelligence and skills to become of much higher value wherever we are, which positions us to earn higher rewards.

Now this discussion more relates to the inventors and creative folks, but tomorrow we are going to discuss how these skills can apply to your own business.

Until then, how much value are you providing. Are you getting paid what you are worth (how much value you provide)?

And if you are, is that a good or a bad thing?

Please comment below or share if you found this to be of value to you. And please drop back tomorrow.
