Target Market (or who will buy what you do or sell)
“If you aren’t making a difference in other peoples’ lives, you shouldn’t be in business. It’s that simple” Richard Branson
To be successful, you need to provide a solution to problems that people (your potential customers) have and they must be aware and willing to pay for these solutions.
OK, what do is your area of expertise.
- Do you have a skill, a product, or a service that your prospect needs to solve a problem?
- Is your prospect aware that they need what you provide, or is your mission to be an educator.
- Do you have something special that differentiates you from your competition rather than being a “me too” company who likely must compete on price alone?
- Is your product and service something that you feel passionately about?
This exercise should tell you if you actually do have a product or a service that will positively improve peoples’ lives, by giving them what they need.
Now we haven’t mentioned the other considerations:
Funding Your Business:
- Do you have adequate funding to live on while you are creating a business income
- Do you have a “rainy day fund”?
- Do you have resources to support your business while you concentrate on your core business or do you plan to be the “chief cook and bottle washer” for every facet of your business.
- If you choose a plan of action that requires business funding, I can get you in contact with an expert in this field – just contact me and I can put you in touch.
Your Target Market and Funding:
It may appear that I am being negative but I really want to encourage you to understand what you are getting into with your own business. As in the previous chapter, the business start-up funding varies widely compared to which business model you choose.
As a senior, I feel that a smaller investment with greater long term potential makes the most sense for me.
If you have questions, I would be pleased to discuss them with you.
Be blessed,
Ron
